A brief history
twirl originally opened in 1968 in Saint Bernard. Operated by Clara and Pius Le Blanc it moved to its present location on
land owned by Bernard Belliveau in June 1969. At this time it was a seasonal summer operation selling ice cream, hot dogs,
chips and soft drinks. Over the years the business gradually expanded with a small warehouse for storage added in 1979. The
early 1980's saw a second addition due to the purchase of the hard ice cream business that had operated at the snack &
slide owned by Jean and Diane Belliveau in Saint Bernard. In 1988 the business expanded to sell fried chicken, fries,
onion rings and tators. Due to the age of the existing buildings a decision was made to construct a new restaurant that would
be open year round, and so from the fall of 1988 to the spring of 1989 the present building was erected. Opening on
April 17,1989 the new Dairy Twirl would in 1990 also become known as Chez Jean Dairy Twirl for Jean Le Blanc, son of Pius

Saint Mary's Bay.
